Don has been active in real estate for 38 years.  His career started in 1972 in Washington, D.C. as a commercial real estate agent with Barnes, Morris & Pardoe.  Don joined The Carey Winston Company in Bethesda, Maryland in 1978-84 as Assistant Vice President in the Commercial Sales Department.  He formed Washington Property Group, Inc. in 1984 and specialized in land sales for selected clients.  Don formed Virginia Property Group, Inc. in 1989 in Winchester, Virginia.  Drawing from his earlier real estate experience, VPG is a full service real estate company featuring residential & commercial sales, leasing & management.

Don has been active in many activities in Winchester/Frederick County-Past President of the Blue Ridge Board of Realtors; Past President of Winchester Rotary; Past Elected member of Frederick County School Board; Past Chairman of the Winchester Parking Authority and Old Town Development Board; former member of Finance Committee of Frederick County.  He currently serves as a board member of Loudoun Mutual Insurance Company and board member of Winchester Rotary.

He was the Operations Manager with Rubbermaid Commercial Products having management responsibilities in Virginia, Texas, Tennessee, and Iowa retiring after thirty-one years of service. Before retiring from Rubbermaid, he served as a corporate consultant for manufacturing productivity improvement project development and implementation.

Bill is also our retirement community professional in the listing and sales of homes in fifty-five and older communities. He is the past president of the Woodbrook Village retirement community Board of Directors and continues to serve on the board as the Architectural Review chair.

Richard S. Helm is an Investment Advisor with The Virginia Property Group, Inc. and an active agent in Virginia and West Virginia with experience in multifamily, retail, land development and historic renovations.  Having spent 30 years in Real Estate and related fields, he brings a breadth of knowledge and hands on experience to assist clients in identifying and procuring performance properties.

Prior to joining VPG, Helm has been associated with George W. Glaize, Jr. Real Estate and ERA Oakcrest Realty, Sperry Van Ness and Oakcrest Commercial Real Estate.  Early in his Real Estate career, Helm spent fifteen years as the Manager of Operations and Sales for Glaize & Bro. LLC, a regional building material supplier.  His experience in inventory management and sales is invaluable in assisting end users in finding functional facilities.  He continues to serve as Vice President of Glaize Developments, Inc.  Glaize Developments is a regional land development company specializing in identifying, acquiring, converting and selling residential and commercial land. Helm’s respect for education and professional development is in constant evidence.  After graduating from The University of Virginia in 1982 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics, Helm has maintained his personal developments with studies in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Workplace Safety and the Law and Practice of Real Estate.

Helm serves on the Winchester-Frederick County Service Authority, The Winchester-Frederick County Economic Development Commission, the Winchester Parking Athority is a past Member of the Common Council for the City of Winchester,  Past President of the Virginia Building Material Association, the Top of Virginia Builders Association and Chapter President of the Shenandoah Valley Credit Managers Association.  He is also a past president of the Winchester Rotary Club.
